Occupational Wellness

We all spend so much time at work that it is important to be aware of some hazards of the job. While most everyone is aware of the necessity of preventing accidents, we may not be so aware of the causes of more minor job-related medical issues. This week, Buster Porter from Occupational Health Services gives a few tips for preventing work-related injuries:

Whether you have a sedentary office type job or a physical, manual labor type job, we all have a tendency to lose track of our physical self as we focus intensely on our job task, accuracy, performance, and getting the job done. Many injuries I see here in the physical therapy clinic are a result of prolonged awkward postures, high force, high repetitions, or extreme joint angles. In order to reduce these risks for injury, try to avoid  rushing, frustration, complacency, and fatigue by taking regular micro breaks to change postures, stretch, and consider your physical self while you are busy trying to safely complete your task.

Remember to think safe, act safe, and be safe,
